Professor of European Politics at King's College London, UK.
My work examines the causes and consequences of political dissatisfaction among the public and the ways in which this is channelled through party strategies and party competition. Specific themes include Euroscepticism and far right politics. My research and teaching interests lie in Comparative Politics, Political Behaviour, Party Politics and European Union Politics.
I received my PhD from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2011. I am EIC of the European Journal of Political Research and an Honorary Professor at the University of York, where I previously worked (2011-2022).
I have published a number of articles in leading international peer-reviewed journals, such as the European Journal of Political Research, Political Behavior, European Union Politics, Journal of Common Market Studies, Journal of European Public Policy and West European Politics. I have authored Far Right Parties and Euroscepticism: Patterns of Opposition (ECPR Press and Rowman & Littlefield 2018) and co-authored The Golden Dawn's Nationalist Solution: Explaining the rise of the far right in Greece (Palgrave Macmillan 2015 with Daphne Halikiopoulou). The findings of my research feed into debates about democratic legitimacy, accountability and representation in Europe and the European Union.
I regularly give interviews to national and international media on Greek and UK politics, Brexit, far right parties, national and European elections, and emotions in politics. Media outlets I have talked to include the BBC, ITV, Al Jazeera, SKY, El Pais, the Greek Lifo, Kathimerini, the Norwegian Business Daily, Cyprus Philelpheros, the Daily Express, the Danish Politiken, among others.
